Director

Melinda Marchiano

Melinda grew up on the central coast of California and began moving to the sound of her father playing the piano when she was only an infant. After beginning ballet at age 3, her love and appreciation for dance grew with the passing of years. Melinda trained with the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo and, in 2012 and went on to be a member of Dance in Flight, where she choreographed and served as a student director for two consecutive years.  Her junior year, Melinda felt that she was being called to dance and write professionally. She began simultaneously training in Los Angeles and pursuing a Creative Writing degree, which she with graduated in April 2016.  Currently, Melinda is a principal dancer with Cantinas Dance Project and is grateful to have worked on many projects including music videos for Ty Waters and Jessica Rotter, the short film "Be Grateful", Dance in Flight: The Film, and Season 1 of the Dance Network series Steady Mobbin'. She is beyond excited to have been brought on as Director of DIF and can't wait to share in the joy of movement and creating with all involved.
